Personal View of 'The Yellow Wallpaper'(Charlotte Gilman)
Title: The Yellow Wallpaper
Rate: 8.5/10
Even a century ago, women have more social restrictions than before. They could not be a politician, vote, etc. This story shows well the women's frustration a century ago.
The protagonist experience isolation, named 'rest cure'. She cannot go out or write down a diary, literally, she cannot do anything but just stay in the room. But she does not respond and is locked up in the room. The author depicts the life of a woman in the 1890s, who cannot express themselves freely. At this point, I love the last scene that the husband is surprised, in which the protagonist survives the yellow wallpaper room, which means repression.
