This short story offers a lot of things to think about even short page 33. You'll probably have to write for at least two hours to talk about all those things. In this article, I will talk about what I thought the most while reading for myself.
What the hell is this article trying to tell us? I think it's a satire on capitalist society. The most controversial part is by far the existence of SGs. The idea of stringing and hanging poor children's heads doesn't seem so beautiful. But what if those SGs are who we are?
I think SGs look no different than slaves. Although slaves are said to have not come voluntarily, SGs are also said to have come voluntarily, but they have been "forced" by their surroundings. And we also live as slaves to capitalism within the social system. It's not much different, is it?
That doesn't mean that this story criticizes only the upper classes of capitalism and the social structure. This is evident in the speaker's remarks, which he believes that in this society, poor people feel being losers compared to rich people. However, it is said that it is "lucky" because it is middle-class. He also felt superior to those who had no money than him. I think this well expressed the ambivalence of the middle class.
There is a lot of satirical content, and I enjoyed reading it very much. It was not boring thanks to the shocking setting while setting up a virtual existence called SGs. It's my favorite short story I've read so far.
